FINAL 50TH CELEBRATION BOOKINGS
If you have not booked for the Saturday evening dinner, or ordered items of memorabilia and wish to, please send this through to me urgently.
Important dates and times
5 February 2010
Founders’ Assembly will start at 10:00 am
6 February 2010
The Saturday day events will start at 10:30 am
The Saturday evening dinner arrival time will be between 18h:00 pm and 18:30 pm. Dress code is smart casual.
If you still wish to book a seat, please e-mail me the number of people, your main meal choice and your list of items from the catalogue. I will forward the banking details to you once I have received your e-mail.
We are also looking for items we can auction off or sponsorship for the evening of the dinner. All the funds will go towards the school.

To all Alexandrians (Ladies and Gentlemen)
The response and interest I’ve received back from all old Alexandrians has been fantastic. Thank you to you all.
The year is rapidly coming to the end and before we know it, we’ll be in the month of February 2010. We now need to start finalizing things and require feedback from you to ensure we have catered for everyone and ordered items so that they arrive on time.

Please could we have confirmation of the following at the LATEST by the 30th December 2009. Payment for meals, catalogue products and DVDs will also be required by the 30th December 2009, so we can place orders for the catalogue items to ensure they arrive on time for your collection next year in February 2010.
Please confirm if you would like to:
• attend the Founders Assembly on the 5th February 2010
• attend the Saturday events on the 6th February 2010
• attend the Saturday evening dinner on the 6th February 2010 (Menu below. Please let me know your choice for your main meal for you and your partner. R80,00 per person)
• order items from the attached catalogue
• order the DVD of the 50th anniversary. The price will be approximately R150,00 per DVD. Total number of DVD’s ordered will determine what discount we receive. (The DVD will be ready approximately one week after the Anniversary. Should you require the DVD to be posted to you, the postage will be an additional cost.)

The Saturday events are open to family and the public to join us and support the schools.
It is a fun day and we will be using this day to raise funds for Alex. The day will start at 10:30am and end at 15:00pm.

The old boys basketball match (original 1st basketball team of Alexandra High School vs original 1st basketball team of Maritzburg College)
The winning team of the Old Boy’s game will all sign the basketball ball and Alex will keep this ball. |

Cool drinks and food will be on sale, music and a jumping castle for the children all day. There will be a cash bar which will be open from 11:30 am till 14:00 pm.
Parking will be on the premises with a security guard.
The Saturday evening dinner is for old Alexandrians and their partners ONLY.
The Alex hall can seat approximately 200 people for the dinner. You will need to R.S.V.P as soon as possible to secure a seat for you and your partner.
You can expect the following entertainment for the evening:
• Mr. Garth styles will provide the music
• The Alex Marimba band
• An auction
• Singing by Lindo Manyathi, a very talented Alex boy
• Lucky draws
• Other entertainment still to be confirmed
There will be a cash bar and later that evening the floor will be open for dancing.
We will be doing a DVD of the Friday and Saturday events. Should you wish to order a copy of this DVD please let me know. Payment to be done as mentioned above under payments.

With the recession, it has been difficult in getting sponsorship form local businesses as they have been affected by these difficult times and not many of them are in a position to assist us with sponsorships.
We are appealing to all old Alexandrians for assistance with sponsorship and items for the auction. If you have your own business and are in a position to assist with sponsorship either in the form of products or monetary assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
The auction is in aid of fund raising for the school. Should you have anything of value or something you feel will go down well in an auction, please could you let me know.
There is a group that has been created in FaceBook. Do a search for 2010 – Alexandra High School 50th Anniversary and meet up with all your old school mates.
Please can you respond to my e-mail no later than 30th December 2009. Your urgent response is greatly appreciated.

It has been officially noted that the first Saturday in February each year, will be the day known as “Alexandra High School Annual Reunion” for all old Alexandrians to gather at Alexandra High School.
Next year 6 February 2010 will be our first “Alexandra High School Annual Reunion” and a very momentous event, as Alex will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary (Gold Jubilee Year).
A school that has changed with the times that every Alexandrian, past and present pupils can be proud of! |
