Academics
Academics at Alexandra High School are of a high standard.
We have a dedicated teaching staff that is highly qualified and invest significant time and effort into molding our learners to achieve their potential.
Class sizes range between 36 and 38 learners per class for Grade 8 and 9. In Grade 10, 11 and 12 class sizes are generally smaller as learners specialise in their chosen subjects.
General Education and Training (GET) level: Grades 8 and 9
Grade 8s have all 10 subjects, but Grade 9 learners select the First Additional Language they will take to Grade 12.

Further Education and Training (FET) level: Grades 10, 11 and 12
At the end of Grade 9 learners have a variety of subjects to choose from. Subject packages offer flexibility of combinations of subjects to allow learners to develop themselves academically in a number of areas.

ubjects and must select one subject from each of the following lines:
Line 1: English (Home Language).
Line 2: Afrikaans (First Additional), isiZulu (First Additional).
Line 3: Life Orientation.
Line 4: Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy.
Line 5: Physical Sciences, Business Studies, Life Sciences, Tourism.
Line 6: Life Sciences, History, Engineering & Graphics Design, Hospitality & Catering, Visual Arts, Accounting.
Line 7: Dramatic Arts, Information Technology, Computer Applications Technology, Geography, Business Studies.
