"Together, we strive
to excel"

Our mission is to
prepare young adults
to take their rightful

society, aware of their responsibility
to humanity
through:

Right of all Alexandrians

These rights are to be enjoyed by all members of the community who, in turn, guarantee, through their conduct and human relations, the same rights to others.

• The right to be treated courteously and respectfully
• The right to work and learn without being disturbed by others
• The right to take pride in the school
• The right to work in a clean, safe and orderly environment/
• The right to be treated with fairness and justice
• The right to be heard
The Matric Pledge

Mindful of the trust vested in me,
I promise to do my best to lead by example and guidance so that sound and decent values shall endure.
In a spirit of fellowship and mutual respect, and through the exercise of fairness, I shall play my part in promoting, among all Alexandrians commitment, happiness and pride in our School

Learner Leadership

All Matric learners are regarded as “Prefects” and therefore have the right to exercise this authority as well as the responsibility to exercise those rights in a mature and reasonable manner. Junior learners are expected to show deference to senior learners but it is acknowledged that respect is something the senior learners will have to earn.
All Matrics receive leadership training and are given the opportunity to practice and develop whatever leadership potential exists in each individual.
Groups of Matrics are given specific duties e.g. gate duty, tuck shop etc, on a rotating basis, so that all matrics will participate. At some stage in the second half of the year the outstanding leaders will be acknowledged with a leadership award. The Head Learners and two Deputy Head Learners are selected at the beginning of the year and have an important role in co-ordinating the Matric group.
The school’s philosophy as far as leadership is concerned is best reflected in the Prefect’s Pledge which is made publicly by the Head Learner on behalf of his colleagues each year.

It has been officially noted that the first Saturday in February each year, will be the day known as “Alexandra High School Annual Reunion” for all old Alexandrians to gather at Alexandra High School.

Next year 6 February 2010 will be our first “Alexandra High School Annual Reunion” and a very momentous event, as Alex will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary (Gold Jubilee Year).

A school that has changed with the times that every Alexandrian, past and present pupils can be proud of!
